The
Spirit Endures...
The Nasson College Alumni
Association is a vibrant organization, working tirelessly
to keep the magic that was Nasson alive. We publish two newsletters
a year in the summer and winter. The president of the association writes
an endowment letter twice a year, one near the end of the year and another
in the late spring. Through these mailings we encourage payment of the
annual dues of $20, contributions to the Endowment
Fund, the Nasson
Community Center, formerly the Nasson College Memorial
Student Activity Center, or to purchase a
brick for the Flag Plaza. (Contribution form may be copied
and snail-mailed to Nasson College Alumni Association, PO Box 416, Springvale,
ME 04083 or online option.)
The
Nasson Heritage Center, dedicated in 1998, is located
on the lower level of the Anderson Learning Center on Bradeen Street.
This was an important event—we
finally had a place of our own! Nasson memorabilia is
displayed and stored here. Frequent meetings of the Administrative Committee
take place here, usually on Monday afternoons. Alumni gather here twice
a year, on Alumni Day,
the first Saturday in May and on Homecoming,
the first Saturday in October. The Board
of Directors meets here three or four times a year to conduct
the business of the Association.
The
Nasson Community Center (NCC) is the most visible
manifestation of our heritage. Offering a wide variety of athletic,
educational, cultural, and just plain fun activities to the community,
it has become a living memorial to Nasson College. The
Little Theatre is currently being renovated. Alumni and friends sponsor
an annual Run for the Gym to benefit the NCC.
Since
2001, we have offered one or two $1,000 scholarships.
Awarding a scholarship to deserving students is one of the missions
for the NCAA. Scholarships are available all with preference to members
of the Nasson family and their descendants.
The
Concert and Lecture Series,
once offered to the students, faculty, and the community has been reestablished.
A wide variety of programs is offered monthly from September through
May to area residents.
The
Hall of Fame has
been established to honor graduates, faculty, and members of the Nasson
community who have distinguished themselves since attending or being
affiliated with Nasson College.
